Providing Gentle, Personal, Family Centered Care

hpymoma12

We call this picture “Happy Moma” and isn’t she?  This is my eldest daughter hours after giving birth to her first baby (my second grandchild).  I love this picture not just because she’s my daughter but because that smile on her face with her baby in her arms is why I do what I do.  It’s not just about helping women have a healthy pregnancy or a great birth, it’s about leading women into motherhood and seeing families being built.  What an honor it is!

Providing The Midwives Model of Care
The Midwives Model of Care* includes:
• Monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle
• Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
• Minimizing technological interventions
• Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention
The application of this woman-centered model of care has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma and cesarean section.
