Hi! I am so pleased that a new birth center will be opening in Oregon. Are you aware of the American Association of Birth Centers, the national trade association for all freestanding birth centers? AABC is open to membership for all birth centers — LM/CPM, CNM, for-profit, non-profit, open-staff, closed-staff — and successfully won federal legislation requiring state Medicaid plans to pay for birth center facility fees and for the professional services of any midwife or other licensed health professional that are provided in a birth center. AABC is holding a workshop for those who would like to start a birth center this weekend in Eugene:

“April 15-16, 2011 ~ Eugene, Oregon
“This workshop will showcase the Peace Health Nurse-Midwifery Birth Center, a nationally accredited and state licensed birth center established in 1984. The center moved into its new facility in spring 2010. Watch a video tribute of the birth center created by the Lane County Friends of the Birth Center.
“The workshop will be held at the Holiday Inn Eugene-Springfield. For reservations call 541-284-0707 or click here to book your room online. AABC group rate is $109 single/double. Cut-off date: March 24, 2011.”
If you would like to stop by the hotel and say HI, faculty and staff will probably still be around all afternoon.

I am very greatful for the prenatal care I received from Debbie and Kimberly at tha birth center during my pregnancy.I felt wellcomed every single time that I had my appoiments.I couldn’t thenk you both enough for all you did for me, specially when I had to be taken to the hospital for a possible preclampsia.Thank you for remaining with me, for all your support in those dificult moments. I wish that in my next pregnancy you can be my midwife again, that is one of the reasons I am also waitting to became pregnant again so I can deliver my baby with a midwife because of my c-section.
Now I know it is true what the lady that recomended you to us said: “Debbie is the best” and the best of all you are Christian and a good one.
